FOR EVERY BLACK BOY is a book I’ve been writing my entire life — since the moments I took my very first breath in this world.
For as long as I’ve lived, I’ve existed as a Black boy. This book recounts racialized experiences and other human discoveries through poetry and prose. Exploring topics like death, love, manhood, and sexuality, this text captures a complex and multilayered story.

JAKE Small is an author, educator, and consultant. He’s a systems-level thinker dedicated to operationalizing justice and building a better world. JAKE works to create truly emancipatory and inclusive policies, practices, and attitudes. He is passionate about advancing education equity with a particular focus on closing opportunity gaps FOR EVERY BLACK BOY.
